Differences Between Acid-Etched Labels and Standard Steel Labels - Metal & Stainless Steel Label Manufacturing Balıkesir

The key differences between the two label types are as follows:

Key Comparison Criteria

  • Material Difference: Acid-etched labels are engraved into 316L steel for use in acidic and corrosive environments. Standard steel labels, on the other hand, often use 304 grade or lower steel classes.
  • Processing Method: Acid etching is a chemical engraving technique, whereas standard labels can be manufactured with direct laser or screen-printed surface printing.
  • Service Life: Even if the paint on an acid-etched label wears away, its engraved recesses preserve legibility for 30 years. Surface screen-printed labels, on the other hand, are doomed to fade within a few years due to sun, rain and friction.

Which label type to choose depends entirely on your project's budget and the environmental conditions it will be used in. If your machine will operate outdoors, be exposed to salty seawater, or be exposed to the sun's UV rays, you should definitely choose acid-etched stainless steel labels. This will earn you both time and brand prestige in the long run.
