CE and ISO Standards Compliance on Industrial Labels

It isn't enough for a machine or piece of equipment to hold a CE mark or ISO certificate; this information must also appear on the product correctly, permanently and in compliance with standards — a criterion inspectors look for. Symbols printed on a label that are disproportionate or distorted can technically make the validity of the declaration of conformity questionable.

Rules for the CE Mark on a Label

The CE mark must have a specific aspect ratio and minimum height (generally no less than 5 mm). Stretching or compressing the mark in a way that distorts its proportions is considered non-compliant with regulations. In production, we always process the CE logo from the original vector file, preserving its proportions.

Commonly Used Compliance and Warning Symbols

• CE Mark: The mandatory conformity declaration symbol for free movement within the European Economic Area.
• ISO 7010 Warning Symbols: Standardized hazard icons such as high voltage, hot surface and moving parts.
• WEEE (Crossed-Out Wheelie Bin): The symbol indicating mandatory separate collection of electronic waste.
• Grounding Symbol: The mandatory safety grounding mark on electrical equipment.

Why Is Vector Accuracy Important?

These symbols have precise proportions and shapes defined in international standards (such as ISO 7010, IEC 60417). Symbols redrawn by hand or copied from low-resolution sources may fail to comply with the standard, both visually and technically. Our graphic team pulls all warning and conformity symbols from official standard libraries and processes them into the production file.

Why Is Permanence Part of Compliance?

CE and ISO symbols are expected to remain legible throughout the product's entire service life. On standard printed labels, the symbol can fade within a few years; that's why we recommend permanent labels produced with acid etching or laser engraving for long-lasting machines and equipment.

ISO and CE standards are occasionally updated. That's why we regularly check and update our symbol library. This eliminates the risk of manufacturing with an outdated or incorrect symbol.
